BB turbo spoolup?

Hi all,

I've been wondering how fast would a big turbo, let's say a 60 series turbo, spool in comparisson to the same turbo without BB or a smaller turbo without BB. Would a BB turbo this size spool as fast as a 52 without BB?

Thanx

PTE says 500 - 800 rpm faster. Expect to pay big $ for one. And it won't be coming from PTE. I don't think they ever plan on making one for us regardless of what they say. Mike Lee is the person to talk to about a BB turbo.

PTE will offer them soon, via the Garrett dual bb. Mike has had them available for a while from Innovative & Turbonetics.

I called PTE for over a year asking about BB. They always said it was a few months out of production. Last month I called 3 times and spoke with Patrick. He said Harry would call me back by the end of the day each time. Nobody ever called. Patrick did say that they do not have any BB SyTy castings. Eventually BB became out of my budget. Mike Lee returned all of my calls and he knows how his BB turbo set ups perform. Much more helpful than PTE.

If you are on a budget like me you may want to consider the opportunity cost of the ball bearing center section, i.e. could you take the $600-$800 and spend it elsewhere and see more benefit? You could get a set of good flowing heads for that $ and flowing more air would probably help spoolup more than different bearings would. Just an alternative point of view,

PS: I saw Typhools BB turbo and it does spin for minutes after the engine is shut off!!
