BBK throttle bodies

Howdy,

My stock TB is leaking badly at the shaft's ends, so I wanna replace it. One question thought. Since BBK stopped the production of the SyTy type TB's (Summit has the twin 58mm on the web, but they can't tell you a shipping date), I've to go with the 89-92 L98 TB. I know about the difference in the linkeage (sp?), so I've to change the linkeage between the stock and BBK unit. However I can't see how coluld I remove the stock one... I guess the one on the BBK is secured with a screw...

Anybody who has done this?

TIA,

find another stocker and port it. dont waste the money on a bbk.

Actually the stock unit from GM is more expensive than the BBK unit. $372 (list price) compared to the $270 for the BBK at Summit now. And I don't want to start with a used unit, which probably has the same problem as my current one...

So anybody, who has done the conversion between the to different linkeage?

Thanks,

Falco,

Conley in Houston got me a BBK. I'm trying to get it running now. However 2 things R different :

1.) The linkage is different - I think just the Cruise, the other 2 seem to bolt up. Altho I'm not sure how well even the other two would function. I've asked Chris to get me a used 350 TB, which is the same as the SyTy TB, and I will change the linkage. U can call or EM Jerry McCoy about changing the linkage. I think he said U unbolt the throttle plate 1st. If there's rivets, U will have to drill them out.

2.) The TPS is different both in the mechanical and electrical hookups. So, U have to get the LT-1 TPS and then John Spina of Caspers' has a conversion electrical connector to go from the 2 diff connectors. I think, or certainly hope, that they put out the same 5V range signal.

I guess there R some advantages to the 1000 CFM BBK, altho probably not essential unless U R going "whole hog". It will move more air and has a much smoother inlet design. But the stocker is a pretty good piece, and if I had it to do over again, I would stay w it.

Lynn,

Thanks for your reply. What's the part number of your BBK TB? As far as I know the 89-92 L98 should be the same sensor wise as ours (part numbers are #1537 for the 52mm and #1539 for the 58 ). The LT1 is using a different sensor too...

Falco,

I don't have the part # since Conley bought it 4 me. but he should have it. Call Chris Conley at 281-540-3278, or EM him at conley@wt.net. I suspect that it is a later model. The guy that ordered it no longer works 4 Lawrence Conley.

I went a different route....I got a Lingenfelter 58mm TB and just switched the whole lower stock assembly TBS unit over to it. Works great . It's also looks as if Holley's will fit fine too... although I have not tried it....it looks as if the linkage is placed where ours is. In both cases the one for a 1992 350 tune port for a Camaro should work. Thats what mine came off of.

If your going to buy a throttle body, 58mm for that matter, go with the arizonna speed and marine one, very nice unit. :D
