benefits of Edelbrock intake?

I have seen a few Edelbrock intakes for sale and I am wondering if someone can tell me the benefit of running one of them over the stock one? Is it worth the investment to tap one for fuel injectors and design a fuel rail if one is aiming for a 450HP build?

Only 450hp, probably not. The cost has to be in the budget. I've got about 1300 in my lower edelbrock to TB but I'm not using a stock TB and my setup was custom. The airflow and fuel distribution was better than stock, but my goals are greater than 600hp

So It isn't really worth the bang to buck ratio unless going for higher HP builds is what I am getting? I am looking to do a solid, reliable, 450HP build with stock W2A and upper intake, Vortec heads and so on. It seems that using this intake requires a great deal of modification plus supporting mods.

I'm not aware of a upper sheetmetal intake to bolt on the edelbrock that will still allow the use of the stock W2A. I'm sure one could be made, would increase the cost. That setup would be very nice to have available. As I've never been in favor of modding the stock lower for vortecs because the 4 corner bolts in the water jackets.

I have seen great improvement with them, both in power and and even distribution of air.

There is an expense to it, and if you have to hire all the fab work or can do it yourself changes the cost.

I have wanted to swap out a basically stock truck with one just to compare, have not had that chance yet though.

Maybe one of these days I'll play with the idea. It seems like its not extremely beneficial for my goals though. Considering this is my second engine build in 2 years of Typhoon ownership I am sure someday I'll be scraping around for every last bit and this may be on the list.

If you research lots of stock motors have hurt #3 cylinder. Looking at stock intake there is no doubt it doesn't flow very even, and a lot of people have suspected #3 cylinder going more often than others might be reason.

Just something to ponder.

I ran the rpm edelbrock conv kit with sheet metal plenum. Benefits were great looks and a noticeable change in performance!

My budget is gonna go so far over with this build. Its definitely something to think about because I want a solid truck that I can drive and still lay into on occasion and have no worries.
