Bent Crank snout:

I posted shortly after getting our built Typhoon engine running about a ballancer being warped or un-true. Since I've started it it's always wobbled. I didn't like it but I thought I was just the ballancer. A few weeks ago I pulled the one that was on there off. It was a SFI Pro-race aftermarket ballancer. I put back on the stock one and had the same result. Shakes. There's no other explination for this but a bent crank snout.

It's got 13,000miles on the motor but I don't want to take a chance.

It's going to take the #1main out if I don't do somthing about it. So we parked the truck right now and I'm ordering a new Billet crank from Scat or another maker.

The Crank that is in there now was out of Brian Green's Syclone.. It's a heat treated stocker that's all done up nice. Somehow before I got ahold of it... it got bent.

I think it's the only "used" part I put in the engine. Dang... why don't I learn my lessons and just buy all new $hit the first time!

I'll be pulling it this coming week. Iv'e got the built 700R4 waiting to go in so I'll just do it all at once and be done.

Thought I'd pass the info along

Re: Bent Crank snout:

I looked into a billet crank... a "good guy" out the back door from Scat is 2700.00 Don't think that's going to happen any time soon. DOH!
I'm going to call waller and see if he's got a good stock crank. It'll only take me a day once the crank is ballnaced to put it all back together and have it on the road again.

I also took apart the 4l60E in the turbo 98 Jimmy... Everything on the inside looked great for 140,000 being on it the trans guy said. (I was there and helped with what I could) but we found a orface tube or vent tube (restricter) on one of the planitary's blown out of it's hole. He think's that's the only part that was bad... Crap.. go figure a .03cnt part pops out and I loose 3-4 gears..> Oh well. Lol.

Hope to have both back in action here real quick.

No kiddin? wow... I'll look that up right now. I was told that eagle didn't make a 4.3L crankshaft.
Humm..
More searching!

Re: Bent Crank snout:

Went to the eagle site... they do not list a 4.3L crankshaft... Got a part number that the eagle site does not list?
Thanks,Scott~

Re: Bent Crank snout:

Eagle does not make a crankshaft for our 4.3's.... Rods.. but no crank.

I've got one coming from Waller. I'll get it re-ballanced for my bob weights and polished up. Put new bearings in and a few new gaskets...
Another weekend of Typhoon fun on the way! Yippe.
I've got the built transmission here too. I'll be installing that as well.
