BIG GUNS: What did you keep?

So... as I'm working through a distributor issue (MSD-TSP Copy is wonky), after deciding on going back to a stock distributor, I got to thinking: What's better left stock?

I mean, you guys are running some fantastic times... so (without giving away secrets) what did you keep in stock form? We've all heard things like "stock downpipes are good into the 11's", or how the stock intercooler is a fine piece up to a certain point.

So... what did you find better leaving alone, as the stock part was more reliable/cheaper/easier? What did you ditch first?

not a big gun, but a pistol. Mine gets better the more OEM parts i take off.

no big gun either but my best is 11.6 stock distributor, stock downpipe, stock upper and lower intercooler :tup:

I'm running the stock distributor...with the NGK plugs gapped tight. (.20-.25)

MSD 6l-2step box and the msd stock type coil.

Honestly I would 1st install a meth kit from Alkycontrol over any other performance mod.

The 1st thing I shit canned was the stock turbo.

What is your 11.6 setup Matt?

Stock exhaust manifolds got me to almost 130mph at.3900#. I also was still rocking an Autozone reman distributor. The stock crank.lived in mine to well over 800.

I have considered building another true TOP STOCK engine using what I have learned, but I have moved on to bigger things!

Stock exhaust manifolds got me to almost 130mph at.3900#. I also was still rocking an Autozone reman distributor. The stock crank.lived in mine to well over 800.

Yeah.... It was one of the things that I feel made a huge improvement (for what I've done so far).

I would do a stand alone ecm and turbo/fuel system/turbo/exhaust

Today I am still running the stock intakes (kind of, although modified), stock distributor, stock coil with a digital 6 box. Not much else is left from the land of stock.

I still can't even get in 12s with bigger turbo, injectors, Tt chip and misc stuff lol

11.40 with stock style billet distributor with msd to keep spark from blowing out! Stock cammed engine. 7.2 1/8th

Engine block with 4 bolt main conversion. Upper and lower intake lower was ported! Crank all though cryo treated. Stock manifolds all though extrude honed. the front axles and rear end where still stock. Everything else was aftermarket.

Yea Ron, I got it already. I just need to figure out what the F I am doing, and stop changing my mind all the time. Then I can stop buying stuff for each option, and focus on one!
