Re: Black/black Ty on Long Island
This truck was bought new by a guy in my neighborhood. This is leterally the truck that won me over on SyTy's. The truck sounded incredible for way back then, and seeing him dust the shit out a built Mustang way back then was shocking to me.
He gave it to his son in the late 90's, who proceeded to trash it. The reason it has the weird painted on lettering is because the guy was drunk one night and spun it around in to a tree down the street from my old buddy's house. It took out the tailgate, and luckily the back window that was covered in Oakley, 311, and No Fear stickers. I literally mean covered. The last time I saw him driving it was years later when he was apparently visiting his parents. I asked him about selling and he threw out some insane number and I walked. He then babied it out of the parking lot while it smoked like a chimney. I saw it once after.
Fast forward to 6 years ago. I drove by a con artist dealership and saw it sitting there. I was amazed it was still running, but upon seeing it up close I wanted to cry. It had a spare as the guy smacked it in to a curb hard enough to break the wheel. I found out a few days later the guy tossed (literally) the old wheels and threw a set of Z06's on it. The interior was worse than most 80's S10's you see in the junk yard, and it was missing the driver's door cladding. The dash was cracked to shit, and when he went to start it for me it wouldn't stay running. For the non negotiable $5,500, I again walked.
My buddy said the next owner put some decent work in to the truck. That was years ago I heard that too, but then it showed up in a local salvage lot. I would have bought it from then it not been assumpitvely crushed. Turns out someone did grab it in time and I'm glad. It would be nice to see this truck returned to it's former glory as I was in love with it back in it's hey day.
