Blow-off valves?

Know this has been brought up before, but are there any benifits to installing a blow-off valve?

Just to clarify things first, a popoff valve is just a spring pressure valve. If the pressure inside hits _psi, it opens up. Good safety feature... A blow off valve is actually tied into the manifold with a vac line. When it senses vacuum in the intake and pressure on the opposite side of the throttle body, it opens up. This is basically when you let off the gas at WOT or something. Instead of forcing all the incoming air back through the turbo, it vents outside. This puts less strain on the turbo, and allows it to spool back up more quickly when you get on the gas again. It's more useful on a manual where you're on and off the gas a lot, but it can help in an auto too.

You still need a wastegate to keep the turbo spinning in its efficiency range. It won't let you run higher boost. It will make a neat noise when your throttle blades snap shut. It will be easier on your turbo when you do. It will get back up to speed faster afterwards. I think that pretty much covers it...

Thanks for the info. I was unsure of whether to install one or not with my new setup, now I'll definately go ahead and get one.
