Blown Tranny????? Need advice :)

Hey All

It seems that I'm having more and more issues with my typhoon. I bought it last November and it's been in the shop most of the time for one reason or another. I finally got here back this past Thursday. This afternoon I was driving to my brothers house and the tranny wouldn't shift into 3rd or 4th. I could feel the tranny slipping the last couple days of driving. ANyways, I called a friend of mine and he said that he knew someone that could rebuild it and install but it would run roughly $2k. I was thinking that I could prolly install it myself but does anyone know of a reputable place to rebuild the tranny? I'm in MAryland and I can travel to Northern VA and even possibly PA or DE. I've already spent almost $3K already on it and I keep sinking more and more money into it. ARGH!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions? I know I still need to replace the motor mounts, replace a ball joint and brake fluid flush.

there are a couple of choices.
John waller does can build one hell of a tranny that is who i reccomend
Raceprovenmotor sell them www.raceprovenmotors.com cantact mike lee
Rossler tranmission is where Ed hess uses
also brian hartman (if you can get ahold of him)
these guys know their stuff and know how to build syty trannys
if some tranny shop says that they can build one they will either mess it up or it will not last
these guys are the best in the business
I have dealed with john waller and mike lee they are awesome guys and they both know their stuff and stand by their work.

hey, i bought stuff from john before...hmmm maybe i'll give him a shout...i have a place in vienna.va called county transmission that comes highly recommended but that $2k total w/ rebuild and install. i think john is in south carolina and i'm sure i'm looking at least $300 in shipping roundtrip plus paying someone here $$$ to remove and install it later...i could try it myself but knowing me...i'd put it in backwards or upside down! argh...

It's not too bad at all to remove/install,just follow the write up on sytyarchives.It also helps to have a tranny jack.The only "hard" part about the job is getting the 2 bolts at the top of the bellhousing out/in.
