Boost Gauge on a 4 PSI Launch 0-60, Mid 11 sec Syclone

I recorded this about a week ago (before it started misfiring). I stopped in an industrial park and did a quick 4 PSI boost launch to capture the movement of the boost gauge. This is my same 11.45 @ 117 pump gas/alky tune (16-20 PSI). I had to let it short-shift around 4800 instead of 5400 RPM, it's tough enough to drive one-handed and videotape with the other.. :lol:

Next time I will record in much higher quality.

PS: Ignore that silly narrowband AFR gauge, it's getting replaced this year (came with the truck and I didn't have a 3rd gauge to use instead.)

OK, I will ask the question, how far off is the A/F guage do you think?

How far off from what? I'm not sure what you're asking but the answer is that it's a useless piece of junk... It reads a 0-1v narrowband signal that was never intended or designed to accurately read WOT AFRs. The only way to make one useful that I know, is PLX Devices sells a converter that lets a narrow band gauge like mine output accurate WBO2 AFR data. My PLX M-300 large digital display is much easier to read than some goofy LED dial so I've got no use for the narrowband gauge.

i'd say he's between 12.5 and 10.5 from when i used to run one

Side question: Do you have any trouble with the boost line getting plugged up? I've cleaned mine before and will be doing it again today because of very erratic gauge operation. Just curious. I'm looking for a small (1/8 pipe) filter to go right where the line connects to keep stuff out of the line.

No never, in fact I still have the original hose that I installed new in 2001. And I've run a bunch of stuff through my intake along the way.

I have had 2 Autometer 30 PSI boost gauges go out of calibration, but the co. was very good about replacing them.

Well it's that little nylon tubing and it seems to plug up.:dunno:
