Boost Gauge ?

When the Sy is off (engine not running), the boost gauge reads vacuum (1 or 2 vacuum). It is my understanding that the boost gauge should be at even pressure or "zero" when the motor is not running. Wouldn't this throw off my boost reading as well? Is the gauge bad or maybe the map sensor? Map sensor and gauge have been on for a year or so with 2,000 miles.

Suggestions or comments?

are you talking about the stock boost gauge???

if so, I can sum it up in one word for you, CRAP.

The stock boost gauges in these trucks are anywhere from "ok" to "worthless" in that some people gauges are close to right and some arent even close.

For this reason, the aftermarket mechanical boost gauge is the #1 or #2 aftermarket modification recommended for these trucks.

If you're talking about an aftermarket gauge already, its simply out of calibration. If its an Autometer, VDO or another good company, im sure they will fix/replace it.

It is an Autometer gauge.

Just call and they will replace it?

For some reason I have my doubts about them just replacing it. Hopefully they will do it. I'll call them today.

Talked to the tech department, he told me it was out of calibration as thought to be. The tech told me to send it in for repair or replacement depending on what needs to be fixed on the gauge.

I'm surprised that they will fix it for nothing.

Thanks for the help.
