Bg does seem like a central point from most i remember talking to about drive time with . Track seemed perfect except from the comments ive been hearing about traction or lack of . Hotel was super cool with us and our trucks . The staff deffinately liked our group and that makes for a relaxed atmosphere .

The track was very expensive, so it better have been good. I'm a little upset that they scraped the track without asking us, or letting us know it would happen. I would have fought that for sure. Other than the price/prep...the track/facility is like no other i've been to. Very nice imo!

As for remaining in BG, that was never the intention. All this NATS proved is that it will probably land back in BG again at some point since it was a successful event. At least...this is if i have any say in it. :tup:

I thought it was pretty darn good. I of coarse would have liked it to be further west, but we are few and far between for attending anything. You East-coasters seem to love meets and west-siders seem to not.

i think there will be an attempt to have a west coast nats next year,i will probably have a hand in it. I think it will be fun, just the area has to be decided. time of the year will be a factor as well considering heat,just like BG.

The only thing that I would have done is organize a night on the town,maybe have a shuttle pick us up and drop us off. Saves people from having to be a sober driver. There was a bar area with 5 or 6 different kinds of bars and we heard it was fun, however, nobody wanted to drive. So we trashed Bustedsm's room instead.

i'm not discouraged from taking it on. But if i'm the lead again, i'll be delegating most every work station to someone else when it's time to be at NATS. I personally didn't get to enjoy NATS since i ran around the entire time trying to appease the crowd, answer questions, etc. I by no means "did it all", but i honestly didn't check a single truck aside from sitting in Gerber's awd truck and checking out the cage for a couple mins while he explained how they set it up.

Running the registration booth sucks but someone has to do it. I did not come around the front of the hotel until after the food had been served. To my shock the place was filled with trucks and happy people. I seriously had no clue at that point how many trucks had shown up, and got to welcome/say hi to no one until they found me around back. I have plenty of ideas to fix this for next NATS.

I love being a part of the planning. I would love to remain lead of it and push the event to grow and better itself. My only thing is not wanting to WORK the event. My truck being broken didn't help my morale either :lol:

Ignoring my g/f and my parents, and my friend that drove in on Saturday...made me feel very crappy. My g/f said to me "i was expecting you to be busy, but i figured you'd spend at least 1 hr a day with me...not all at once, but 10 mins here, 10 mins there..." :lol:

I meant to get a bull horn, but forgot. Meant to arrange a group photo of the trucks but forgot. Meant to arrange a group photo of the attendees but forgot. Brought a LOT of renzfab parts to set up a booth and sell things...just didn't have a chance to do it and didn't want to sit at yet another table and sell things.

Basically, those that saw me in the final hours of NATS either noticed or heard that i was grumpy, and this was why. There were a lot of oversights by me, the biggest being assigning tasks for everyone AT the event. But sunday came very quickly for me and all i had were 0 pictures to show for it. Which is further why i'm enjoying nats more now than this weekend, since everyone is posting pics/vids for me to finally experience what happened at nats. :)

I think the turnout itself shows BG is a good place to be. I like the tent or better directions to find check in, but once you saw the winnebago it was hard not to ask, "how'd I miss that?". I know a lot of people put a lot of their time to plan all this stuff for us and also pay for it before they got their money back. You can never please everyone in a group this large, but for any SyTy NATS 11 staffers I missed, THANKS, for your time and effort. I'd be happy with NATS 13 in BG in 2011, and the 3rd SyTy Homecoming in MI next year.

i agree with renz that more delegation needs to be done with announcing and running stuff on schedule and making sure everyone knows what is going on when. Im sure if asked certain attendees would like to participate in these aspects. i wouldnt mind helping in the on site organization, it would give people a chance to meet and greet with everyone and learn some faces. 1 person with one thing to do is easy and would really spread the load. great job this year renz.

I thought the event went as good as could be. Logistics for something like this is difficult to say the least - especially when you are so far away. Hats off to all of you!

id be more than happy to help at next nats! now 18 or so more people and we should all be able to have fun lol

I was the one who busted out the chalk and started to write all over the place.... once I got going, me and a bunch of people soon realized we should have done this sooner when I had a few people coming up and telling me what a great idea. Figured, it was chalk, so it was non intrusive and not permanent so I went crazy and just started to write.

Sorry I didnt get everyone's trucks.... just kinda walked around randomly and wrote stuff as I saw it.

But yes, I think this is a cool idea to keep doing for future events.

...Mike, don't think this went un-noticed. I saw you Thursday night for a while, again at the reg. table and almost never again until the awards. Very busy man trying to do as many things as he could. Unfortunately, not too much for himself.

...I had the pleasure of going to dinner with Mike and Jen on Thursday night. BUT, it was not until almost 11 p.m. We drove around to a couple of places and all were closed so we ended up at Steak & Shake. Just goes to show his dedication to the event. Immediately upon arrival and even before the official start of Nats, he was busy and all over the place. Didn't even take time to have dinner at a reasonable time. I bet that if Jen and I had not pushed him (we kept reminding him that we were hungry), he would have skipped having dinner altogether even though he was just as hungry as we were.

...I had many people ask me on Friday "Where is Renz" (why they were asking me I have no clue - not that anybody really knows who I am and certaintly cannot connect me to Renz) and my reply was "In back at the registration table". When I went thru reg. I could tell Mike was not 100% (I am an incredibly observant individual and can read someone within seconds - comes with the job) but he was not complaining, had everything under control and the registration process was a breeze with him in charge. Many thanks Mike from myself and I am sure everyone else!

...The planning that went into this event was obvious. Everything from the website to the awards. Alot of work and even more time. Heck, just the amount of time we spent going back and forth on the helmet and its design was "time intensive". Next time, pretend you are at work and delegate authority to make the "business" run efficiently. Could go as far as assigning multiple people to handle the registration table with specific time blocks for each so none of the "volunteers" miss out on the day like you did.

...I bet I spent more time with your mom than you did. Great lady. She is very proud of you! and rightfully so. I obtained alot of info about you from your childhood right up to your current job. I'll never "talk" no matter how much someone tries to pay me. When your g/f came up to you late one night and said "Hey Mike, can you pretend that you know me for a few minutes", first it was funny but then when I thought about it, it wasn't funny anymore (I think that was late Saturday night).

...Yea, I noticed (again I am incredibly observant). Maybe grumpy, but not rude or crude. We all think you did a fantastic job and would love to see you be in charge of the next Nats. I have no complaints about this event and would bet that the next one will be even better. When the time comes, let me know if I can help. Say "Hi" to your mom and dad for me.

One suggestion since it was brought up in this tread - Since people want to associate a name with a face and a truck, let them take a photo of themselves (or a family shot) with their truck and print it out prior to leaving. They can leave the page on the dash for everyone to see. They can even put their screen name and some info about the truck. Seems everyone has a camera and a computer so let them do the work. Simple enough and would be one less thing YOU would need to worry about.

i think it was a great event. i def would have shown up thurs to "settle in".

i also think that NATS are kinda like tuning. you can't make to many changes at once. keep it at BG next year. make tweeks.

it was really cool to almost have the whole hotel to our group.they were super nice. staff was accomidating. the trailers could have been moved from day one.

all in all it was awsome.

renz, you def look like you had to much on your plate. kinda shitty that you couldn't enjoy yourself more. you were like a wedding planner. def need to spread the chores next year.

just my :2cents:from a NATS virgin

Bowling Green was great. Like many others have said a larger more secluded parking lot would be great. I think we have been spoiled out in KC though so our expectations are high.

Despite the fact that they shaved the track I thought the facility was top notch. I love how easy going they were. There was pretty much no tech.. They allowed passengers, etc...

My dad and I actually went up to the announcement booth and talked to Clay(owner's son) for quite some time. He was about the most laid back easy going track manager I have ever met..

I was pressured into doing the outline to the real michael hood. I was just following everyone elses drunken directions. :lol:
