What do you do for a dipstick with a Bowtie block?

I will get it checked for cracks. This block is perfect - I can tell that it has not been decked. It is standard and has standard cam bearings.

Let me know, I'd be happy to pay you the additional cost to have it done.

If your having it mag'ed I would also have it sonic checked. Although the advertisment on these blocks say that they can go to a 4.150 bore, that is not always true. I have had two new bowtie blocks that could only go 4.040 max bore. I have had others that could only go 4.125. A good sonic check will show the cylinder wall thickness. It should be checked at the bottom center and top areas and all four sides of each cylinder. The bowtie block has siamese cylinders so you do not check thicknes directly beside the next cylinder

You need to have .150 to .200 left at the thinnest point of any area for a built turbo motor. The only exception is if there is a thin spot towards the bottom and you are using block fill you can get away with thinner walls in those areas.

Thanks John.
Originally I was going to ask for that, but since it was only 0.20 over, I figured it wouldn't be necessary.
I can see now that you have been bit before, so I appreciate your input.

Rods are sold and I will be taking the block to get sonic checked and mag'd for cracks on monday. I will also get the deck height checked and will report back.
