brodix -8 head fitment

Playing with a set of lil brodies today. I have never seen any good pictures of them with a stock intake and stock manifolds. So I put them together....

Looks like the modded intake and stock manifolds fit pretty good. Just mocked up one head. Which cylinder is the one that burns?

Looking good!
Make sure to check for spark plug clearance.
You most likely will need to grind on the manifolds for some clearance.
Just don't grind too much.:2cents:

My friend has straight plug -8 heads & he did not grind the manifolds for clearance. He found some plug wire covers that do not burn through.

Are your Brodix straight or angled plugs? If they are angled your plugs want fit at all, straight plugs fit but you will be burning up plug wires a lot.

I was told stock lower modded for Vortecs could work on the -8....

I run a modded stock intake but with RPM 1 5/8" headers.The stock manifolds were just too close for me.Burns plug wires and makes it a bitch to change plugs.

I have a set of welded manifolds that I don't care much about that I will probably use. Then I can grind on them to fit.

My Phoon has Brodix heads on it with the stock intake...it has header as well but I have no idea who made them....still learning...

Brodix -8 and -10 will both fit the syty intake if the intake is modded for vortecs. The only difference in the 18 vs -10 is Brodix ported the castings a little more in the -10s. Not even noticeable. You can weld a second flange on the stock manifold and add a section coupler to the cros- over for more plug clearance if your not running A/C, etc. Plus tweak the down pipe. I haven't tried it, but heard if this years ago.

My friend that ordered straight plug -8 Brodix heads runs a completely stock upper & lower Syclone intake manifold. No mods whatsoever.

I will try it tomorrow with a stock lower intake and take pictures. It will be nice to consolidate info.

My friend used ceramic plug boots, that stopped the wires from burning. I confirmed w/him, that the plugs would have cleared better if he had ground down the exhaust manifolds, but he already ceramic coated them before hand & did not want to grind off the ceramic off.

He also reconfirmed his stock lower intake is untouched & it bolted right on, no need for welding, adding aluminum to the lower intake manifold.

The stock intake will bolt right on. An intake that is opened up for vortecs will flow better with a better port match.

Not true.
I was merely trying to correct your statement. They will bolt right on. You do not need to modify, that's all.:tup:

If you open any intake port up it will flow more. If the port window is small like on the LB4's it will flow like crap.

My friends build is very mild, port matched intake to his -8 Brodix heads, ported stock manifolds, .030" over, IIRC, it made 550 HP w/12-14 psi of boost to the wheels, R&D dyno in Torrance. Broke one fiberglass leaf spring during dyno pulls. Cam was a 204 degrees duration @ .050 , turbo is one of those old Richard Chan T3/T4 TE45 Big shaft turbo.
