Build engine shift points

Glancing at a resent DM log

1-2 5125
2-3 5675
TCC lock 5250

"Mild build" is in the eyes of the beholder. :rotf:

I didn't know I had a choice. Unless I disconnect it somehow. Never thought about it. Looking at that same log and trying to figure where the RPM would be going through the trap looks like over 6000. Or you could do the math. I'd rather not rev over what I'm doing now.

IIRC Don is using the Turbotweak. It probably happens under ECM control and it would need modified in the programming. My code $59 default is to automatically locks at a certain mph which happens to be 3rd gear.

Re: Build engine shift points

i set my governor for 5750. I use a manual switch lockup. My best lockup results have been locking on the line (engaging on the 1-2 shift). Of course this is extremely harsh on the transmission during shifts. Ideally would be locking at the top of 3rd gear, to pull the RPMs back down for the last bit of the run. Depending on your engine/turbo combo, you may or may not see boost drop when you lock the converter.

I have an adjustable controller with mine and didn't lock it up. Going to pull the truck out of the cobwebs and start playing with it again. From what I can remember it just made it through the traps but I'm going to try bumping up my Rev limiter a little bit.

6000 RPM SHIFT PIONTS FOR ME. I lock up the converter in 3rd at 5000 and run it out the back door locked up 6700..

How's that Single disk holding up Frank. Would think at your Power level the clutch wouldn't hold anymore. At least that's what Chris at Circle D said ?

I locked up my Triple disk Vigilante at 100mph to keep the RPMS down at the end of the track.

I was gonna try 6000 shift points myself... 6700 wow. Guess it all depends on the build and if it makes power up there?

Re: Build engine shift points

I had my TC restalled awhile back and the clutch checked and he said it wasn't slipping. However on DM the RPM drop on TC lock is nothing like it is when the trans shifts.

I have a 6000rpm pill in the MSD just in case.
