I have a knock sensor and esc from a tbi 4.3l. How do you wire it to the caspers knock gauge?

Can I just splice th signal wire on the gauge into the knock sensors wire for it to read knock? Would it still retard timing if knock occurs if done this way?

The knock gauge just needs signal, power and ground. The signal wire goes from the ESC to the ECM (I assume a standalone). So it won't interrupt anything.
