the article stated that the car is faster than a ZR1 and a ferrari 348 , as i do own both a 90 ZR1 and a 93 typhoon i can say for shure that the ZR1 is faster on al accounts.
although the typhoon is a very fast truck , stock for stock the typhoon does not stand a change against a ZR1.
only thing is the ZR1 is very difficult to launch where you just mash the pedal with the typhoon as it relies on its 4wd.
i could only win the first 30 or so meters with the typhoon.

You mentioned the reason why your ty isn't quicker right there.. learn how to boost launch it

i know how to do that , but that is still not enough to beat a ZR1.
and above 60 mph you can forget about it , the typhoon is like a brick aerodynamically and the resistance of 4wd takes its toll plus the typhoon is heavier than the ZR1 corvette.
but still kudos to the typhoon/syclone for being so fast
