Checking the market...

1993 Typhon. Not driving it as much as I used to, and starting to think it needs a home where it can be appreciated, but not sure what the market will bear.

The good-
Freshly rebuilt engine. .30 over, 4 bolt conversion eagle H-beam rods, JE cast pistons, Crane 212 cam, Vortex heads, 60# injectors, Kinagawa turbo, Motocam stg1 ECU, fluidamper balancer (under 1,000 miles)
18 Corvette clone wheels, 18x8 front 18x9.5 rear (tires are not worn, but old enough to be worth replacing)
14" Cadillac four piston front brakes
8.5 10 bolt with gov-lok and 11" rear disk brakes (new shoes, pads, calipers)
Rebuilt transmission (about 2,000 miles on it)
Cadillac collant pump for intercooler
Sanden AC compressor conversion
New oil filter lines

The bad-
Missing one front corner and one rear corner cladding
Window weather seals are rough
Steering gearbox has typical play
Driver seat stitching is breaking down
headliner is delaminating right at the windshield
Transmission has a leak (I think dipstick tube, but haven't confirmed)
Lower radiator shroud has a hole in it, does not seem to hurt cooling
Interior plastics have the typical broken tabs and cracks.

It was repainted black by a previous owner. Not good or bad, but not original. To get the most out of the Motocam, the buyer will need a Tuner studio license (used to be $50)

Nothing to call ugly. I think the good outweighs the bad enough to warrant $25k. Much less than that and it wouldn't be worth my time to sell it. Thoughts?

Odo reads 134K, but as mentioned every bit of the driveline has been replaced, except the front diff. Also have the original 4.3 available for a rebuild. Too nasty outside to get photos today, will get some when we dry out.

Handful of photos-

I would get some more detailed pictures. Trying to sell a truck? Post at least 20-25 pictures, underhood, chassis, etc.. a running truck is worth more than one that doesn’t run but with your lack of pics people won’t pay much.

These trucks are very expensive to restore and repair. And once they are all fixed up, they then proceed to break down every other time you drive them. The market is very strange for syty. Honestly the 8500$ is not a crazy dollar amount for a truck in that condition. If the truck is an Arizona rust free truck that makes it a bit more desirable, only problem with Arizona cars is that the interior gets blasted by the sun. Some interior parts are generic s10 blazer. Others are very hard to find. I paid 5500$ for mine in similar condition about 10 years ago.

Sir I have about 17 trucks, now it's def worth more than 8500 ! but I don't think your going to pull 25k either. 2 options.. 1 replace the cladding , wheel out the truck detail the interior and you can most likely get 18-25k. Truck looks very clean no Rust or Rott. Good luck with the sale.

Modified SyTy have historically never commanded as much interest or sell for what unmodified original SyTy sell for. The only modified Sy I recall selling for decent money was Rob's (Wyoming Syclone) Sy on BaT during the spike in interest there a couple of years ago. Syclones have always been valued at about a 50% premium over a comparable Typhoon.

For almost 20 years, the Syty.net "community" was the main driver of interest, enthusiasm, and demand for the SyTy. Lots of peeps were enamored by the community and became owners because of the support and knowledge available on .net. That of course, no longer exists, and interest in SyTy has waned. So has the desirability to own, and therefor value in general. There just aren't as many potential purchasers as there have been in the past. This affects value.

I have two comps for 93 Typhoon:

In 2023 I sold my 93 wht/gry, basically untouched original (other than an all stock GM parts 2nd Gen 4-wheel disc brake conversion), California Emissions compliant, with 145k miles for $16,500 to another longtime SoCal SyTy enthusiast that knew the truck and myself. We were both satisfied with the deal.

Yesterday, I helped another longtime friend and original owner of a 1993 wht/gry try to get his truck running. He installed the entire ATR catalogue (other than the headers) on it in the mid-90s. It has an Ultimate Chip. The battery is in front of the tire and totally inaccessible. I've worked on this thing for 15 years, and hate having to. It has never run as well or been as reliable as my stock 93. He asked me what I thought it might be worth, and I said "After a $1,000 detail, new tires and it runs again, $15,000 would be a stretch. Especially if emissions compliance is required."

Find and purchase and install the missing cladding. Find and install stock wheels. Clean it up well. Lots of pictures and try to get it as much exposure to potential purchasers as possible. These things will maximize the value to an interested purchaser.

Neil: "I have about 17 trucks". Dude, you should seek professional counseling. You have a disease. Car-collecting. Cheers, friend.
