Impeller ? R U talking about the Compressor wheel on the Turbo ? The Turbine wheel would be no problem. Do U have an old used Turbo that U can put in there temporarily ? Anyone Turbo car guys near U that might lend U one ?

You can probably use it but if its chipped, like a piece missing then Id assume it is no longer balanced.
It will probably be more noisy than it would stock.

And you are gonna run the risk of something else going wrong.
Maybe another blade has a crack in it and once you get under boost say another piece breaks off and goes into your engine...
Then it would have made sense to rebuild or get a new one.

Mine had bent blades and I used it fine, but none of them were broken.
Personally Id say get something else or fix what you got.

Stab it and steer it
A compressor turbine that is chipped on just one blade so it’s out of balance will self district rather quickly. Actual chips, as opposed to wear, set up stress fractures that you may or may not be able to see. Result: self destruct again. IMO I would not use the turbo.

go to www.forcedperformance.net

You can send them your turbo and they can replace the wheel for you probably... if that part is available.

My buddy got a brand new 17C from someone for $440 with a one year warranty.

Just did not want you to think you had to blow your entire budget on a turbo.

Balance is *vital* to a turbocharger. At full boost, the compressor is rotating at 130,000 to 140,000 RPMs or 2,167 to 2,333 times a second...

Mike,

I agree fully.

On the one hand we have horrendous speeds but on the other we have very little “moment” i.e.: weight X arm. A turbine/compressor assembly is lightweight and of small diameter. Yet because of the speeds involved any out-of-balance condition will cause much difficulty. :-(
