Hey everyone,
I looked around to try and find a post that kind of gives a first timer some good tips on removing cladding to paint/bodywork, but i could really find one. Is there anything that would help me out once I remove the screws from the bottom to get it off? Or at least a post that has some good stuff. :lol:Thanks alot.

Re: Cladding Removal

You can start by being more detailed. There are 14 pieces of cladding on the truck, so which are you trying to take off. Other than that go to http://www.sytyauthority.net/ click on tips on the left and then click cladding in the folder structure. Provides some good pictures of how to remove. Hopefully you can do this inside, because when it is cold the cladding is brittle. Work slowly, very easy to break pieces.

First you have to drill out all the metal rivits, which is the biggest pain in the ass ever. Then the screws are in the wheels wells 7mm. Search the vault for replacment plastic rivits.

just take your time and be very very careful for the material that the cladding is made of is fragile, especially the mounting tabs.

Re: Cladding Removal

I'm not sure, i'll take any suggestions but i'm thinkin of a combination of some dark dark metal shades. I know i'll figure something out. I have some ideas from pictures i've seen. I'll see if i can post it to show you what i'm talking about.

Re: Cladding Removal

Just took my cladding off my truck a few weeks ago. Its a real PITA! Get your self some sharp pilot point drill bits otherwise the drill bit will walk on the round head of the rivet and you risk damaging the cladding itself. Go slow and take your time, there's no quick and easy method.

Re: Cladding Removal

I have heard drilling can spin the riviet and melt the plastic. What Works well is to cut the ones you can from behind with some strong side cutters and drill as little as possible to prevent melting and the ones you do have to drill just be very careful!!!
