Brick Pilot
On my third attempt to put a durable clear on my wheels. I paint the inserts the argent color to match the cladding and red 'GMC'.
First was rattle can that not only yellowed a bit but would easily chip.
Then there was 'Protect-A-Clear' that was a pain to apply, and the painted surfaces had to be completely dried, which took about 3+ months (trial and error) or it would pull up and bubble the paint.
Now I was told to go to a 2 part for strength and durablilty. POR-15 glisten clear is what was sold to me with AP120 prep. I spent the weekend stripping the old off and re-scotch-brite and polishing. Looked great. Got home today to treat with AP120 and mask to shoot the inserts. Just spray on and let sit for 2 minutes and hose off. That stuff streaked and discolored everything, including the polished lip. Now I have to re-reprep everything. Have any of you used the Glisten w/o the ap120 prep? Since I'm painting the inserts, what have others used other than powdercoat.
The upper right I quickly re-scotchbrited to compare to the others.
