Re: CO caravan to Nats

So it looks like most are leaving Thursday morning? where does everyone want to meet up? I don't think the Ty will be making the trip. Trans is on it's way out, front suspension/steering components are pretty worn out, and the AC is on it's way out... Nothing I wouldn't expect from a 127,000 mile GM product. :rotf:

My wife and I will be rolling in the Volvo. If we don't head out to KC even earlier (we have the whole week off) we'll meet up and join the caravan.

Man, if I had the money and could have a trans/etc. waiting in KC, I'd ask to give my truck a ride too

That'll work too :D

I just want to keep miles off of it, and that thing isn't too comfy for long trips. And it's likely to break out there too :rotf:

Ok guys, when/where do we all want to meet? Does anyone live near the highway that we take to get there? Not sure which highway it is though :rotf:

yup. Pretty much I-70 straight through Kansas to another road to Overland Park.

Nadine and I are leaving Greeley around 6:00am on Thursday. We'll probably head down Hwy 85 to E-470 to I-70 and then straight on to Nationals.

How many are leaving from Denver?

I'll be leaving P-town around 6:00am. I'll be driving up Hwy 24 to Limon, then I-70 to KC, with Sy in tow. Hopefully I'll be in Limon around 8. If anyone wants to meet up there let me know?

Well, depending on traffic, we should be rolling through Limon around that time. May be just behind you by 15-20 minutes. If we get out right at 6:00. We'll look for a Sy being trailered and may just jump in line. What's your tow vehicle?

I would say keep truckin' if that's your plan and we'll probably catch up with you just outside of Limon. We'll be driving our Volvo 850 and it likes the top end cruising. :rotf:

We're planning to make our first fuel stop in Goodland. Of course, we may need a quick snack or something in Limon too, and if we do, we'll keep a lookout for you.

Oh God don't stop in Goodland... Keep going 30 miles to COlby. If you do stop in Goodland, take a look at what I had to endure for 18 months of vo-tech college. :( Don't worry though, there IS a walmart there.

I didn't really want to stop there either.. but guesstimating our Volvo's highway MPG, I'm thinking Goodland will be the place to stop... But if we can make it the extra 30, I'll take your advice for sure.

My wife and I sorta planned it out according to our MPG and proposed fuel stops:

• Greeley to Goodland
• Goodland to Salina
• Salina to Overland Park

But we may do better on fuel mileage than we plan. We usually drive in the mountains. I guess it all depends on how windy it is and which way the wind is blowing. :rotf:

Any other advice on traveling I-70 through KS, please let us know. We'll have a radar detector and if I need it, i've got a digital police scanner. What's the speed limit anyway?

My tow vehicle is a gray 01' Chevy Silverado extended cab. The Sy has flames. You can't miss it!

How many from Denver are rolling out beside you guys Austin? I figured Nadine and I would just try to roll through Limon around 8:00am (about 2 hours 20 minutes) from Greeley and see if we can catch syty1376 as he goes through. :dunno: we're still not sure exactly what we're going to do.

Well, do you guys want to meet up there? Or are you cruising through D-town on your way out?

We won't actually make it into D-Town. We'll take HWY 85 to E470 To I70 To KC. I'd just say try to roll through Limon around 8:00. I'm sure we'll all end up together anyway. I think our first fuel stop is going to be in Colby.... Nadine and I will go over travel plans again and we'll let you know tonight or tomorrow.
