Still chasing some issues down but I have Code 42 and 43 which are electronic spark timing and electronic spark control codes. I have replaced the following.

Cap
Rotor
Wires
Plugs
Coil
Distributor
IGN control module on distributor.

I don't know where to go from here. I am about to buy a new ECM but I don't want to if someone knows what the issues is. Any help is appreciated.

i've read your old post on this . never tried another knock sensor. still have your stock oem knock sensor around ? if you do try swapping it . also,, double check the brown wire connector that you disconnect for setting timing . the terminals have been known to become loose after being disconnected . fyi our knock sensors are pretty much a special syty item . most of the off brand parts store sensors that are listed for our trucks are also listed for camaro's / firebirds / cavilers / blazers / astro vans . they don't work ... our memcals /est modules in our chips are one only . and are not shared with any other gm cars . nether are our knock sensors .

I don't have the stock knock sensor anymore. I put a new one in with thread tape and light torque. Another post I read listed a Borg Warner equivalent and I got that one. I guess I'll do some research and try to find a factory knock sensor. So our ECMs are SyTy specific? I thought just the chip had the programming and the ECM was parts bin hardware?

The ECMs are not SyTy specific they were used in some '87-'89 small GM sedans (Turbo and Quad 4 applications). I would hold off on buying an ECM. IMO since your truck runs it appears the ECM is functioning.
