cold weather sensor

Some reason I am told over and over again there is a cold weather sensor in the truck. Im sick of hearing the cold weather sensor. I never seen it.

Truck is temper mental. Sat for a month. Was acting up when It was hit. battery drain out. I charge that bad boy up. Its COLD out here. Weather has been Warm/mild. Today it is cold.

I blasted my turbo intake with some starting fluid and it does not do anything for engine. I gave the truck a blast a while back (summer) and the ether would make its way through the inner cooler and to the TB and fire it up. I figure a quick pop of ether should fire me over. Well I am out there wondering why it wont fire up. I just wanted to fire it up, Heat things up and check for my leak @ the radiator.

The coolant leaked out some where. It was mainly comming from passanger side front rad area. I thought the lower portion was cracked. I had the RAD tested. checked out @ 35 psi.?
I found alot of coolant traveling down the passanger side frame rail.

I wanted to start my truck and put water and test it out. Too bad I cant even get the truck to run once again for this simple test.

Re: cold weather sensor

its your temp sensor, the 2 wire one on the drivers side is used for the ecm

Re: cold weather sensor

So does the truck need coolant full or to register a min./max liquid level?

Lets say there is not much liquid in engine - would this cause a issue

Re: cold weather sensor

I built my truck to shut my buddy up with his ford power plant. for years he would just beat his ford stuff into me. Type who would not let you get a word in or could not tell him differently.

He was pretty quiet after he had seen my truck. Kind of like a dog with its tail between his legs.

Problem is with these high power fords is they dont get traction for shit. (not trying to knock you ford guys) I drove his 600+HP ford thing and it just would break loose and torch tires.

Nothing like getting some positive traction.

But I really like my Syclone. You can bury me in that thing. I wont get rid of it. I have tossed the idea around of selling. But That Wont Happen.

This is wrong. The one on the driver side is the one to the gauge and it's a single green wire.

The ECM one is at the front of the intake and does take two wires. It's just by the water hose.

Re: cold weather sensor

If the sensor is bad, your truck will be trying to run rich and possibly flooding the cylinder. Try either swapping the sensor or doing th flood mode - pedal to the floor and then start.

Got DM or a log file?

Re: cold weather sensor

I tried flood mode and nada. I am thinking it is the battery. (pc680 style) Small tissue box looking battery. I wanted to take it out for winter and trickle charge but those who know my plans changed. I know they do not survive cold weather. Almost like I need a NEW hot battery- My thought on that. Indicates a 13.1v. Cranking dips down in the red region of factory battery gauge. Im not sure if these are rated for cold.

Thats the only place I can think to start.

Re: cold weather sensor

Did you give the other vehicle gas when you tried to jump it? You need 2 people sometimes if your battery is dead. How old is it?

Did you DX the sensor?

It's sounds like you are not getting spark, maybe a bad coil or ignition module, 35 psi is a little excessive to pressure test a cooling system 15psi is plenty

Re: cold weather sensor

I replaced most the ignition components all newer parts. IGN mod. is a recent part, I have 3 of them. Original GM one I replaced with a ACCEL unit, thought that was bad and I just updated it with another New part. Guess going to start with the spark tomorrow. I would like to go out right now and test this thing out for spark.

Re: cold weather sensor

I had a pc680 in my truck at one time. Worked great in the summer and fall months but winter would discharge it quick and became a pita so I ended up relocating an optima to the bed with 1g wiring. Grounds done with 1g too and never had a problem again.

If my truck was a race car the battery would be ideal but it isn't so it became more of a hassle then it was worth at least thats my opinion

Tested for spark. Cyl. 1 has spark. Took off wire, Used screw driver. Noted spark. Removed plug. Black. Soaked with gas.

Re: cold weather sensor

Going to get good battery power to it, remove the plugs let it dry and install some new ones. I have also tried WOT thottle AKA clear flood mode.

Got the truck going, Still having a issue. Truck has 0 vac. for a while during start. Like mention before it takes a while to get vac Holding gas down and flooring the truck to blow the unburn fuel out. This is really something that I should not be doing. I let truck warm up, Checked for leaks. It is my upper heater core on the rad- the S shaped hose is torn. Leaked out fluid. Unseen tear. Going to need to replace that funny bent hose.

Truck stalled out when I tried to move it. Fired it back up and it seemed like it was over fueling itself. It started to read 0 on the vac/boost gauge. Breaks stick as well. Like I have NO vac and No break power. This has been and ongoing issue. Like truck dies out on me...... Loose all power steering and breaks. Very scary at times.

So with that being said- Truck is running once again. Back to the same troubles

Re: cold weather sensor

I don't know would a broken diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator cause this issue?
