Syty Killer :(
It's been a while since I messed with a syty engine and things have changed a little. I'm searching but finding very old threads. My plan was to just use this engine as is (stock with an ultimate) but I got excited. So now I need to be updated on what everyone's having luck with running. Not planning on getting inside the engine until next year, I have a spare engine for that. At most I could throw in a cam since I have one. Things like vortec heads have to wait though.
Truck is an 87 s10 blazer. 2wd. 3.42 gear if I remember right from a newer zq8 truck. Previous weight was 3425 with an iron head sbc, no AC, and very heavy 73 z28 wheels. It now has AC and lighter wheels will go on so with a v6 I'm guessing a similar weight maybe less.
Here's how it sits...
Fuel system is a walbro 255, braided -6an lines. Adjustable FPR.
3 bar map with ultimate chip
3" magnaflow exhaust, no cat, stock downpipe
Otherwise completely stock with 113k miles.
I have....
PTE60 with downpipe (just got this from the recent for sale threads)
50# injectors on the spare engine
412 cam in the spare engine
Data cable, ostrich, chip burner, chips, adapters, etc.
I don't have a wideband yet.
So what I'm wondering is should I run the 50's with the PTE turbo or something else? I keep seeing that 50's make tuning hard which I can say with my typhoon and 50's I struggled with tuning on code 59. For this reason if I can just buy a chip I'm all for it. The less tuning on my end the better.
Would the 412 be a waste of time? Looks like everyone does a custom grind now.
Stall size for a PTE60? I'm guessing 2800.
Assuming traction what can I expect at the track and for power? I found very old threads of this turbo going into 11's but not as much as I thought I'd find. If this turbo isn't going to be enough of a gain for the work involved I'll run stock this year.
Thanks in advance.
