Connecting Accel DFI to factory harness?

I am converting over to Accel DFI Fuel Manganment. I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get a harness to connect to the factory ECU so that my factory gauges, AC, exc. will work. What would be the best way to go about this?

I was under the impression that all of the electrical components ie; gauges, ac, antilock brakes, were all tied into the computer. So your saying that if I ditich the factory ecu, all of my gauges will still work?

Alli can tell you is i had a dfi 6 and now a dfi7 with a harness theat pugged into the factory harness. i.e. unplug ecu plug in dfi unit.

its that simple.

but, dfi 6 uses a different harness than dfi7. so call dan white and tell him which one you want.

if its for dfi7 make sure you tell him you want a resistor in line for the check engine light. otherwise it sets a code 53 as the filament in the bulb draws more than .5 amps current.

Thank you for the advice. I was going to install a DFI 6 for the simple fact that they are now dirt cheap, but I definitly want a clean simple installation, so the DFI 7 will prob. be the way to go.

this may sway your decision.

read up on the features of the gen 7

the other nite while tuning we set up the 2step rev limiter. then we set up the boost builder in the software.

turned on the rev limiter with boost builder enabled. truck was in park, rev limiter set to 3k rpm, and in park we were making 4 psi boost!!

next day we did the same thing only out side the shop and put it in gear 1st. at 3k rpm i was making 15psi boost. keepin mind it wouldve gone higher but my msbc was set for 15 instead of the normal 22 while we are tuning. We werent even at the point were the brakes are maxed against the tc. that happens at 3400. so this allows max boost of whatever you want without brake creep whatsover!!!

my tuner was so blown away at seeing this he just couldnt stop laughing about it. I cant imagine what it is going to be like when i do this but stay on the gas as I let go of the line-loc-2step button.

What web site did you go to in order to get the different features?

this is your syty boost with brake against tc.

This is your syty boost with rev limiter and boost builder

you guys have no idea what your missin on this!

Dan White IS THE MAN!

Be sure to have Dan WIRE EACH INJECTOR to an injector driver output in the ECU. I've been having issues with MY Gen 7 in the S10. DFI says I need to do this to 'fix' the problem. Factory SY/TY injector harnesses wire 3 injectors together and only employ 2 injector drivers in the ECU.

OK with saturated high impedance injectors, crappy with HOT ROD low imp models.

My problem is that SOMETIMES upon startup the truck runs rough and makes ZERO POWER. A Keyoff for 10 seconds 'fixes' the problem. DFI says that we're picking up the wrong bank and firing the injectors like 3 times per rev. UGH... They want 1 to 1 wiring on this! Plus add a dual synce distributor and you have SEQUENTIAL!! VERY COOL!

Also I'm running 83's for injectors.

BTW, 2 step guy: can you send me your global cal file so I can have a look at that 2 step config?

sorry but the tuner wont give it up! he has it password protected.

i dont like it either, but he does charge for this!

Well if you can drop me his e-mail address I can ask him about implementing the feature.

BTW, your global file 'should' really be YOURS if you paid for it. When I do DFI I give the customer a disk.

I agree with you! but he doesnt want his stuff getting passed out for free!

so it will be real interesting to see what he says about your request.

I understand his concerns, but to me that is the biggest bitch in that whole system. You paid a guy for his time to tune your truck, now you can't even change, modify, or even VIEW the settings in the computer. How much extra do you have to pay to even SEE the data?

Stuff like this will hurt the distribution & use of the new DFI.

just my $0.02

like i said i dont like this either....

I dont expect to have it end like this once its finished...

I am not sure why he is doing this as he didnt do it when we did the gen6.

The password option is totally selectiable, the reason we put it in is say you tune a customers car, he changes the calibration blows the motor reinstalls your tune and says your tune damaged his motor.

SHOULD I DITCH 6 AND GO TO GEN 7 ???

SHOULD I DITCH 6 AND GO TO GEN 7 ???

I allready have gen 6 and I am installing a new block (bowtie) 50#inj, t-68, and other goodies, is it worth it to sell off my gen 6 DFI and go Gen 7 ??
what are the benifits that are so good that I should not pass up?
keeping in mind that I have been out of the syclone scene for years now so please speak caveman for me!
Thanks.

heres 2 for you that made my decision easy

1 2 step rev limiter on board.

2 boost builder

combine the 2 in this scenario:

From a single switch on my shifter, I set my dual line locks, turn on the innovative multistage boost controller, the engine revs to 3k, the boost rises to 15 (or whatever i want) and i am not pushing the tc against the brakes at all. I dont have to find a place to mount an msd (ive run out of room anyway). Should allow for better more consistant launches, lower and more consistant reaction times, not to mention a better tune since it is interfaced with a wb02 instead of a std o2 which by now you know that wont tell you anything accurately at wot.

That was enough for me.

besides that gen6 is pulse width based where as gen7 is VE (volumetric efficiency) based. tuning for ve is where its at.

Ken will probably pop in here and give you more reasons but there is plenty more info on the net by serching for "dfi gen7".
