Connecting CAT to DP

I need some help. I ordered a magnaflow direct fit cat. (I know, people said to leave it out, but I need it here). Anyways, the previous owner WELDED a 3" test pipe to the DP, overlapping the DP by about 1.5" (and looked horrible). So, I cut out the Test Pipe weld (was right where the cross member was, took about 2 days to get a clean cut!). Now, the magnaflow pipe seems to be the same dimension (2.5) as the DP. How should I connect them? I could take it to an exhuast shop, but man, I wanted to put it on myself. I am not sure about this. Any thoughts?

Code what?
What is the over all length of the new cat? Did you cut the dp at the weld or did you grind it to save the 1.5" of the dp?

just take it in, one of the ends will have to be strectched open to fit over the other

I had to cut it. I tried to grind the welds but with limited space, that was not going to hapen

Figured it out!
There was a weld on the top of the DP taht was holding it from slipping on. I installed everything tonight. FInally! It is done!
