cooling issues

so ive been driving local for a couple hundred miles breaking the new motor in and everything has been great. I put intrepid fans in and temps have never been an issue. fans come on at 190 and shut off at like 178. I decided to take it on the highway today and when going over 45 mph the temps creep up even with the fans on. the faster I go it seems the worse it gets. and its not an rpm issue because it has a 3k stall so around town easy its still turning 2-2500 rpm and at 60 converter is locked at like 2000. it seems like an airflow issue or an air vacuum because even with the fans on it still gets over 200, as soon as I get to 25-30 mph its cools down fast, and at idle it drops real quick. any ideas?

Code what?
Just a thought, without knowing details and performance of your cooling system. The experience I've had breaking in new engines, they always run a little hotter during break in than after. If you didn't push 210* I'd just keep a watch which you should be anyway, and double check your cooling system components and their operation.

Re: cooling issues

everything is new. only thing I can think of is its missing the skid plate thing. the a2a intercooler is nice and cool so that shouldn't be the issue
