installing the sy engine and have a couple ?s i have never ran into. i guess every other time these items must have been plugged or i left the correct items in.

how does this go in? does not fit, is there a coupler?

what goes into these 2 holes? is one the oil intake for the turbo? if so i guess i am missing the connector since the oil feed is a female.

also is this the correct angle for the oil sender? i know it only fits one way.

Re: couple ?s

1. I believe there is a adapter that goes into that slot, but I removed mine so I may be wrong
2. That is the oil pressure feed for the turbo.... the female end of the line goes on the turbo, or it should anyway. The other hole isn't used for anything
3. Yes, correct angle. I hate that thing :squint:

Re: couple ?s

Should be able to find that adapter at a good hardware store in the brass fitting department. Inverted flair to pipe.

Look up in the filter adapter and pick the fitting that gets filtered oil. That would be the center hole in the filter adapter on the block. If I interpret the drawing in the manual correctly it's the lower one but I could be wrong. Did that make sense?

Yes Don,

Brass adapter fitting for coolant return line, there should only be one tapped hole for the oil line to turbo but if two its the lower one. The angle is correct for the oil sender unit.

I agree it's the lower one, since mine now has a temperature sender in it  .... I'm almost positive that the top port isn't connected to anything, but don't take my word for that

Re: couple ?s

you should get a new knock sensor, using your old one could cause problems. Guy at GM told me they should be only torked once and not re used.

This is interesting... I've been chasing phantom knock for a while now, maybe this is why

Re: couple ?s

I was told not to use any thread sealant or anything else on the knock sensor also. Yours looks like there's something white on it,teflon tape?

Re: couple ?s

The manual calls for "water based caulk." Not Teflon tape which will insulate it.

Re: couple ?s

the new knock sensor I just bought from gm had some red crap in the threads already. I am going to assume that this is the stuff they wanted installed
