Crankcase Evacuation System

The Dumlers have. The pieces in the kit go on the valve cover, small cylinder pieces weld into the exhaust (downpipe) and they use exhaust gas to suck air out of the crankcase.

So, what sort of hoses are they using to connect the valve cover vents to the weld-in nipples? Standard heater hose would melt at the nipple, right?

Also, this brings up a point of confusion I have. I read a while back that someone used a belt-driven vacuum pump to evacuate the crankcase, and that power was gained by doing this. This is essentially what this system does as well, it trys its best to remove all gases in the crankcase.

But lets say that the vacuum pump was 100% effective at its job, and always maintained a vacuum in the crankcase. Rather than seating the rings better, wouldnt it instead pull more of the intake charge into the crankcase?

Can someone explain to me why this system is better than just keeping a positive fresh airflow through the crankcase?

It usually allows you to run a thin ring package that has less parasitic loss. The big gains are normally found in the upper rpm's as well. I'm sure someone more qualified can add alot more to this. HTH,
 
these r not intended for street use.
the check valves will fail eventutally (or not so eventually, if u know what i mean)
they use standard rubber hose.
they're menat for use with open headers only - backpressure will render them far less useful.
bottom line - dion't do it.
far as crankcase evac systems, they're really for more low tension rings as opposed to just a thinner ring.
they do work...on big motors turning a lot of rpm.
many people adapt a stock type a.i.r. pump as one.
really more trouble then it's worth, likely , on our trucks
