Crossover and Downpipe ?

I was reading a article on the development of the Syclone engine and in this article it stated that the crossover and the downpipe were made with stainless steel. The question is this.

Has anyone try to polish these and how did you do it ? It would look better with a shine:rotf:.

They were mistaken.
It is not stainless, at least not on the production models. :(

Yep, just plain old mild steel. However, you can polish plain steel but it will rust like crazy unless you keep a rust preventative of some sort on there... Here's the brackets and pieces parts for my throttle body and intake that I did two years ago:

Buffing stainless steel is pretty straightforward. All you need is three buffing compounds and three buffing wheels. Start off with a sisal wheel with emery compound. That will smooth out the surface. That is followed by a sprial sewn wheel with stainless compound. The final step is done with a loose section wheel with white rouge. You can buy everything you need in kit form from The Eastwood Company. You can use a drill if you have time to kill. If you're serious, get a buffer. It's worthwhile to note that any exhaust component that is buffed with discolor (turn blue) once it is heat cycled...
