Cruise control upgrade

I am in the middle of building my lsx conversion harness, so now is the time to do all my upgrades and changes to anything wired in the truck.

I have found a couple of threads where people installed later model non-vacuum cruise control into their trucks. is this worth it? is there any downsides to the vacuum style cruise? everything in my truck behind the firewall i believe is intact, and i have never driven one before so i dont have any experience with any inherent downfalls to the stock system.

thanks

edit: sorry i think this is in the wrong section

Re: Cruise control upgrade

I'm one of the guys that went with electric cruise control.. I may even be the 1st.. Anyway, the stock CC is surgy and no matter what you do it looks ugly under the hood. The newer electric stuff is smooth and much easier to hide.. The only drawback(and there may be a work-around for this) is that the newer stuff expects twice the PPM that our DRAC supplies so you can't engage it till ~52 MPH...

Re: Cruise control upgrade

cool Ill work on collecting parts then.
I am doing a lsx swap with a 0411 pcm which has programmable speed output so I bet i can 'fix' that 52mph problem.

the info i found states that a 1988 silverado module is used.
is there a part number or any other interchange info you know of that will help me find the right module to use?

thanks
