Damper & timing chain q's...

My timing mark has slipped conciderably; and there seems to be quite a lot of slop in the timing chain- so I want to do them both . GM damper is $67 thru Dal, the chain & sprockets are ~$90. (OEM). Any thoughts on aftermarkets for these? Jegs and etc. have a lot to choose from; as well as Checker and their ilk. Only upgrades are turbo & MSD box. Not looking for the cheapest alternative- the originals lasted 10 years after all- but I know there can be advantages to aftermarket.
Thanks; Cornell in Phx.

The guy who did my machining.. ( I built the motor ) told me not to worry about spending money on the aftermarket stuff.. I bought a stock set from him. I think I gave $79 for the balance and I gave 65 for the timing set.

400 miles on it and it has not come apart, yet ... :D

Just my $.02

Stock timing sets suck- period...
Most that I have removed have a lot of slack.

Get this one. CLO-9-3100 67.95 from Summit. It will far outlast your engine.

Thanks for the replies; will check out the Summit as well as the stock. Is the stock damper ok?

i agree. the stock damper and timing chain suck. cloyes true double roller timing set from jegs pn 220-9-1145 $52.99 . also fluidampr makes a sweet harmonic balancer but it is a little pricey but well worth it. pn 388-712615-004 6 1/4" $239.99
