Dash Pad

Recently purchased Syclone #1577. There are several cracks on the dash from sitting outside (I assume). Are these dash pads replaceable? I may buy a cover as a short term band-aid, but would like to have it back to it's original condition. Where would I find one? Does the dash pad come off or is it all one piece? I assume the Sonoma and S-10 of the same year are interchangeable? Any help and insight is appreciated!

Common problem and not an easy fix from what I understand. I know the instrument cluster surround is different on the Sy/Ty's and I'm pretty sure the pad is different where the cluster mounts but if you are creative with that area the rest of the pad is the same and you may be able to get one to work. Either way good luck at finding a replacement for even a n/a truck. I keep hoping someone will repop them but with our low numbers they would probably be costly. Even if they are not Sy/Ty specific, I don't think there is enough market in the S-series restoration game to make it worth while to the manufacturer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though. As far as the dash covers. There are hard covers that are available and look pretty good but they may need paint and trimming to fit around the clusters right. They glue on and unless you are looking for it most people will never notice. Only thing I hate about the one I have on mine is that the defrost vents and speaker covers don't fit in the cover but stay in the original location so they are the only places that you can really tell it's not original.

I see. That makes sense that the repop market may not have a big enough demand to warrant making new ones. What brand is the hard cover you have or what website did you get it at? I'd like to check them out. Thanks for replying and advising, it's appreciated!

Mine was a Coverlay brand that I got from Rockauto. A few of the Sy/Ty vendors have them as well but I don't know for sure if they are the same brand. I was going to get one from one of them but since I had a Rockauto order coming anyway I ordered from them since they were cheaper. I was satisfied with the fit so I kept that one and just trimmed where I needed. I suspect the ones sold by the vendors are probably the same but I'm not sure. Like I said earlier, due to our numbers, it's hard to see someone making enough money off of a Sy/Ty specific mold.

The dash in the sy/ty is the same as a dash in a normal S10 it's just at the instrument cluster is different. The dash pad is not a removable piece you have to change the whole dash assembly

Thanks for sending the pics Wildphil- do you recall what color that dash pad is? I ordered light gray but think I should've gotten medium gray based on the look and your pics.

I don't remember the exact shade of grey that I ordered. It was probably medium. But I just don't recall.
