So, just started to drive and play with the Ty that I bought in the fall, and am working on my first SyTy driveability issue, which has now turned into a no start condition. Was driving around the block today, and when I pulled by my garage, put it in reverse, it stalled, now will not restart.
Here is what I had / driveability issues:
- Stalling whether idling at park, but most likely, when going from Park to Reverse or Drive.
- Hesitation or stumble upon acceleration
- Max boost about 5 psi, but quickly goes to 2 psi than 0.
Some basics about the truck:
- stock turbo, downpipe, injectors, etc
- O2 sensor, plugs, wires replaced in fall by previous owner.
- new vacuum lines installed in fall
- I do not own a wideband or data logging system. Not objecting to buying one, but dont have one today.
What I had done in looking to repair the driveabilty issue.
- swap chip with the stock chip from my Sy
- swap ecm and chip with known good one
- swap boost solenoid from my Sy
- replace fuel filter
- replaced coil. Note that when I pulled off the coil harness, the black harness didnt seem to fit as tight in the coil as I thought it should. Fit better in new coil. Wiggling the coil wire did not have any impact in driveability and/or starting.
- checked fuel pressure. Was a tad high (about 44 key on engine off, set to 41/42). Has accufab FPR
Seems like a few of the cases are similar to what pearl91chevy was going through recently. I am going to check spark shortly and may just pull the module out and check/replace it. I thought I would post something in the meantime. FYI, the tach does flutter when cranking. Part of me thinks its module. I see that modules sometimes create driveability issues, sometimes they just die. Sometimes they create driveability issues then die.
I will update when I check spark. Any other thoughts in the meantime?
