Dumps and symptoms...

Results of the streetracing debauchery were that I figured out that my truck runs like ass with the dump open...
Opinions here?

Maybe I should have reset the ECM A&B, dunno?
Maybe it was a high boost situation revealing a bad ignition condition?
Maybe it was not enough back pressure?

Would have had Diacom data, but the friggin' laptop wouldn't stay running for some reason.
Acting like a little bitch for some reason.

Any thoughts from people that use dumps?

Aaron, how does yours run?

I am teh kingpin!
i noticed in the other post, you put in 118. is it possible, you had too much octane?

I've noticed that my boost control is very different with the dump open than with it closed. You may need to have some custom programming done to handle boost control when you open the dump.

I could see that, although I have run with the boost control totally disengaged before the dump, with the stock exhaust.

I am wondering if this is revealing a new ignition issue.

Basically the truck cuts out under hight boost.

I will just do the ole plugs/wires/cap/rotor routine...
Argh.
The bane of syty existence.

Where is the URL for that low buck diy dis system?
The one that used the LS coil packs and stuff...

I am running the atr street chip in my new computer. But I experienced something similar while we were tuning on saturday. It felt like it was blowing out the spark. If this is a similar feel I had a pinched vacuum line. Once we fixed the bend it seemed to clear up and I had a solid 17lbs of boost using a manual boost controller. But I was runing 104 unlead.

My truck is running pretty good datamaster said 12.9, I couldn't really launch that hard but I really need to put in my other tc and tranny. I already bought a drum of 110 and have plans of starting on the removal tonight.

I Hope this helps.

Great...

I did just redo vacuum lines.

Which one was it.

I'll start with that one.

:p

Get the barrel from John?

Mine was the one at the back of the intake closest to the cab. It had a kink in it so I turned the connector to relieve it and it cleared it up.

I got a 30 gal drum at duggans. For $30 it was a little high but it was very clean and I can actually get it out of the truck. I dont think I could move 55 gals; 30 is heavy enough. I picked up a pump from harbor freight that screws right in and it seems to work fine. I could probably get the fuel cheaper (4.10 gal for 110 at duggans) if I ordered a larger barrel but it is too heavy to move around in my 2 car garage!!!!

Can John get it cheaper?

I'm pretty sure John has the hookup, and brad was working on some 118 unleaded too.

Will try that vac line.

Harbor freight has those pumps?
They fit the 50gals too?

118 octane requires more timing advance and more boost from my experience. Higher octane gas burns slower and is less resistant to detonation. You could actually slow yourself down because the rate of burn is decreased.

I think they will fit the 50gal. They have multiple threads on them, the pickup tube is adjustable and they seal pretty well; not too bad for under $20. I had to open the vent on the drum the last time I used it...

I will try to call you later and get some more info on how to contact John.

If your truck is sputtering under high boost, make sure to check your spark plug gaps and set them to at LEAST .032 if not .028 or .030. Standard .035 will not work properly!

I agree on the gap.

I wonder if it is a bad plug wire, or bad gappage.

Will need to investigate.

Great, snowing in the next couple days....
