Re: duramax

I think you'll run in to some packaging issues especially when trying to keep it AWD. The engine compartment is very short and narrow on s-10's. The 2 vehicles I've seen the swap done in had a much longer engine compartment (SN-95 Mustang and 1st gen Camaro).

I say get some dimensions first and measure where a big d-max intercooler and radiator are going to go. If you don't mind cutting the firewall a little, then go for it. I'd consider a custom frame too, that way you could fit a bigger 1/2 front diff, and maybe keep the d-max low to lower your CG.

Re: duramax

Personally I love the idea. I have had thought of putting a dmax in a Colorado for a while. Don't have the money or the time for another project but it would be hilarious to have a diesel going clackity-clack in a little truck. It would especially confuse the full size diesel truck guys. Around here, they think they're soo cool. Jacked up truck with a stack coming out of the bed, they're hanging out the window with cut-off sleves an old hat and a mouth full of dip. They try to race everyone and it would be hilarious to beat them at their own game.
