ECT issues....

So today I thought all about the issue I am up against with my truck.

Truck performs RICH condition.

8 mons ago I replaced the TOP coolant temp sensor with a brand new delco part. On the same hand I replaced my stat with a hypertech? 160* stat I believe. I purchase the t-stat from Summit.

Since I have installed the new stat, I have always warmed the truck up but never noticed it climb over the first mark on the coolant gauge. Like it may register @ 80*.....

My main question here is- What would casue the temp gauge to not rise?

My first thought is MAN I hope I didnt install that thermostat in upside down.....
My second thoguht was is the actual NEW ECT sensor bad? causing a RICH condition OR is the other ECT sensor on the head BAD and not sending signal.... How would I even know.

I just purchased a new AC delco part 15326386 or GM 213-928

Just wondering how to determine what is wrong here.

Thanks

Re: ECT issues....

From what I've read and seen, the temp gauge is a common problem.. Mine also is this way and I have a 160tstat.. If it goes over that quarter I start paying a bit mor attention to that needle but have never had a problem.. Also a good way to check is datamaster, One of the options for readings is temp.

Re: ECT issues....

Mines get to about the the 1/4 and I've replaced the temp is intake and driverside head. Still reads the same as stated above just watch it ,if it starts going above the 1/4 mark you'll know it'll shoot right up!

Re: ECT issues....

So you've replaced the sensor in the intake, does it still run rich?
Or does it run fine and the gauge just stays at 1/4? If u want just call me my number is 763-221-8138
