so where has everybody mounted theirs? the probe not the guage

Ken, Isn't there really only one mounting place where the Endoscopic Gas Tester probe becomes effective?? :rotf:

...sorry, couldn't resist :D

Seriously, what about in the crossover pipe? I wouldn't think the reading after the turbo would be as accurate due to the expansion of the exhaust gasses through the turbine.... just a thought.

I have a spare down pipe to drill weld then ceramic coat id have to pull the cross over to mount it there

The most accurate reading would be in the turbo exhaust housing. The easiest is in the downpipe but as close to the turbo as possible. Temps in the downpipe respond just a little slower and are lagging by about 100 degrees. At that point you are splitting hairs on the readings. The only thing if you put it in the exhaust housing there is a slim chance of failure if you don't use a quality probe and/or over heat it

I stuck mine in the collector before the turbo flange.

...the crossover is easy to pull... just drop the CAC down to access... could ceramic coat it at the same time!

Re: EGT guage probe mounting

In the diesel world we mount them pre turbo, it seems to be around a 200* temp drop post turbo, and by then the damage is already being done. But the oil burners are a little more sensitive to the high heat then gas motors it seems.
