Hey Guys,

I was doing a little calculating the other day - I know, a dangerous thing. Anyway 1 - 18" fan would have a surface area of 254 in2 vs an area of 190 in2 for 2 11"ers. 2-12's would be 226 in2, but I'm not sure that we can fit in 2-12's.

In any event the 1-18"er has more area, so what's the point of putting in 2 fans

The radiator is ~16" from top to botton, so 1-18 isn't going to fit.

Anyways, Has anyone tried the Spal dual 11" fans. I noticed the are about right height, but they are short about 3" on the width. They flow 2700cfm or 200cfm more than the flexalite (also cost $50 more). I still haven't been able to find anything about ramcharger fans, all I find is dodge trucks and if I exclude 'dodge' all I get is sex toys.

Dgoodhue there is the website with the cooling fans.
It is meant for a turbo buick so it does take some fitting/grinding to make it fit but it works realnice.
Basically you have to cut off the side mounts and make some sort of bracket to hold it then. It is real easy if you have a die grinder or something.
I actually gave up making the bottom mounts and used one of those through the radiator transcooler mount and made some brackets on the top. I plan on redoing it real nice someday but I have gave up on my truck for at least a year to recoup some costs.

I hope that site will help you out, also do a search with BG as the author he made 2 posts about it and had some pictures of it installed.

Thanks for all the help.

I went to tighen down my water pump pulley w/o the clutch fan and realized the unthread part of the stud is getting in the way. Do I buy new studs/thread (where do get them?) or do I put in some type of spacer?

Dave......the WP studs are usually 5/16-24 (fine thread). You can pick these up at any hardware store and most parts stores will have them as well (either individually or as a pack in the "Help!" section). If you get some from a hardware store or fastener company, then make sure that they're about 1 1/2" - 2" long. Get self locking nuts and/or lock washers too.

BTW, a little bit of advice (you may know this already)......but when loosening/tightening the nuts for the fan, be sure to leave the serpentine belt on. It usually provides enough tension to loosen/tighten the nuts without having to "chock" the fan.
