Re: Engine Cradle

What are you calling an engine cradle? A sy does not have an engine cradle since it's a full frame vehicle. I think something isn't translating right.

Maybe he needs a engine stand for when he pulls the motor or builds a new one.
If so bought the torin engine stand online from walmart for 70 bucks and it works great, its big enough for chevy v8s and still a compact stand and easy to move around plus bolted right up to my syclone block.

Summit has cradles for storing and transporting motors, just order one for a small block Chevy.

I ordered a summit brand one. Have to cut the arms and move them back to fit the 4.3L. I put my engine on it, and 2 of the wheels broke off while pushing it from the shop to my office. Big POS.

Re: Engine Cradle

i have a harbor freight one, works fine. fully dressed iron big block on it with no problems.

GM hi-tech did an acticle awhile back on engine stands, whether to buy a standard or heavy duty. To break the light duty stand, they lowered a 2-post lift on it. And that only bent the arms.

A two post lift isn't very heavy w/o a car on it. Maybe there was a car on it. I think GM and hi tech aren't synonymous, so I don't read the magazine. :p

Ya the cradle one that just holds the motor you have to modify it but the stand with the rotating head for building the motor fits our blocks just fine with no mods needed. Again I got the 70$ torin/ big red one from walmart and is pretty good but I dont roll it around that much anyways.

Mine must be different, the posts with the motor mount pads on mine were adjustable to accept the V6. And the wheels seemed fine for what it's meant to do.
