Maybe I didn't ask in the right words- I know what the casting number is and the year and date of the block ect. I am trying to match the block to a specific vehicle it came out of not just the year range ect. I got it, thank you for the threads and real reply.

Who cares what it came out of? It's a generic crap 4.3

Fill it up with block fill to the bottom of the water jackets, slap on some Vortec heads, get a cam/tune ect and don't knock it,

Oh and you are welcome.
I'd rather be a smartass than a dumbass.

Re: Engine ID help

If it is from a Sy or Ty. On the driver side. Right behind the end of the head. On the block to head mating surface(I think). The truck serial number is stamped on the block.

Why is that so important, may I ask? There's no difference in engines based on what vehicle they went in originally, Except for SyTy's, I believe.

Thanks phil we got the serial number already and fig it all out.

No real important reason, was just curious where the block came from thats all. But like most cases here on forums some guys post good info/? and then others just want to be dumbshits about it. If they dont want to help fine but then they should shut the F#%K up..
