engine wiring question

I bought a project ty and I have no idea what half of the stuff the guy before me did. im trying to put it all back together now,there is plugged hoses,hose and vac tees everywhere. he "upgraded" the wiring. here are a couple wires/plugs im unsure of. can anyone help? im desperate! thanks

The wiring on the firewall looks like it could for a MSD ignition box. [The rubber feet look like what MSD uses.]

The black wire sort of looks like the alternator charging wire and is probably long enough to reach.

For your pulled line, does your truck have a charcoal canister? Its not quite in the right place, but maybe some zip tied if your charcoal canister is removed.

now that I look at pics the second one seems to be cruise control. and that wire does not reach to the alt

The cruise is probably right. The charging wire runs along the back of the motor and runs up the driverside. What does the other end connect to? It could have been added wiring for aftermarket electronics that was removed. I am not sure what your engine had done to it but since it has headers it isn't stock. If it doesn't have a dipstick and tube, the engine could have 4 bolt mains and someone didn't clearance the main for the dipstick.

Doing more looking that is the alt wire. It was just routed wrong,it does reach now. I built the motor,but the guy cut the dipstick tube down because he said it didn't fit with the headers. I know with a little tweaking I can get it to fit.....but I can't find a tube or stick.

You might be able to buy the dip stick from GM. I bought a new tube about 7 years ago and it was under $15.

Grrrr now looking at more pics that may not be the alt wire. How many wires go to the alt stud?

Ah, wiring diagram book (big but handy) or at least the Ty supplement maybe?? Just thinking that would save you a ton of writing back and forth here. (I'm assuming there is Ty supplement as there is a Sy supplement.)
