FAST/GAST Memorial Meet 2009

It has been made official, the 2009 FAST/GAST Memorial Meet will be held at Rob and Mona Turgeon's house in Thonotosassa area. Since Nats is around the corner, we figured this would be a good time to hang out, BBQ and wrench on trucks to get ready for Nats.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but we are going to figure out if there is anything going on that weekend as far as car shows or activities. Stuff to do in the area if you dont want to wrench: Keel and Curley's Winery (they do wine tasting, etc), horseback riding (adults and kids) and Hillsborough State Park close by....

We will be equipped with a 2 bay garage, a lift and plenty of room to park alot of trucks.

Adam, post some exact dates and I will try to come. Last year (or the year before) I think I came "the day after" the good stuff happened. I'd like to make it on the main day this year if possible.

May 22-24

Saturday will be the big day, so the 24th. We usually dont do anything on the actual monday memorial day. Not sure if Rob and Mona want to do a 2-3 day thing at his house, or just mainly focus on Saturday just yet.

I would like to come if I won't be laughed at too much for driving my blazer. I would really like to meet people and both my wife's family and my family live fairly close to the area so we would be visiting them as well.

**edit** I can take a lot of pictures :)

Dude. DRIVE YOUR TYPHOON. You bought it to have fun with it. BRING IT.

It's reliable. Its not going to break. Quit being scared of the damn thing and put some miles on it. Seriously, having NOT seen your truck in like I dunno....10 years?......I would honestly get in it and drive it to california right now over my syclone.

I wont laugh, but I'll be disappointed that people who own trucks wont bring them out that are able to. If your able to come....unless your truck is in pieces and/or broken, I see no excuses not to bring it. I know others in FAST feel the same way.

As Adam said, Saturday (the 23rd on my calender) will be the primary meet day - for wrenching (I have a 2-post lift), grilling, etc. I'm thinking a group breakfast on Sunday morning - Cracker Barrel, I-Hop, or similar. Still scoping out any local events that might be scheduled for that weekend.

For those of you unfamiliar with Thonotosassa, it's about 20 miles NE of Tampa, just a few miles North off of I-4. I'll publish the address/directions when we get closer to the meet date. SyTy families are welcome...Keep the responses coming!

Local cheap hotel?

Gary,
Assuming Ian, Caroline, Adam, Rox, Cailin, and Olivia will be overnight stays, I doubt we'll have room at the house. If the girls decide to go shopping instead, we should be able to find a spot.

I did a quick Google review of local hotel fares, with these being the cheapest; Mariott at $79:

And Choice Hotel at $72 (for those of us over age 50)

Re: FAST/GAST Memorial Meet 2009

I would love to come and see you guys again......but I have a BIG question. My passenger side cylinder head is very noisy. What is invloved in checking this out? I would assume it is a big job that may take some/alot time so it may not be an option in such a short "enjoyable" visit. I also assume it is a noisy lifter/lifters and it is driving my knock sensor nuts and makes driving nerve-racking.

What I needs help with  -

1) above said noise
2 )new braided turbo return line

I have a brand new AEM tru-boost gauge/solenoid that I will compensate to anyone who wants to help $275 value
