feel bad racing low miled, stock typhoon?

looking for typhoon
so I just got a bone stock 92 typhoon with 78k origional miles for $15,000 and the thing is really fun to drive. Ive had cobra's, viper's and many other fast cars and this thing is just so unique because its so old but yet so cool. I like to race cars but should I feel guilty racing this low miled, stock, never molested typhoon?

I want to take it to the track and see what she does but I feel kinda guilty like I should be storing it and driving it only on nice days.

Did I get the wrong truck? Should I have gotten one with more miles for less money, something that I could play with more and not feel so guilty?

thats not that low of mileage, and it musta have been molested a little at some point in its life...even if it was babied, that doesn't mean it might not break. All the trucks are so unique/finnicky, that you can never be certain how long it'll last under normal driving. Keep up w/ preventative maintenance, and do all the "free" mods...and you'll do yourself some justice.

oh yea...and post some pics.

mine has about the same miles and i race it all the time (when its warm out). people give you this look of "what the hell?" after you boost launch on there ass, and you beat them by 5 bus lengths.

The mileage isnt low really. I have 69k miles on my truck , and its my WINTER vehicle. The AWD does great in the snow. I am sure someday I will be pissed at the rust ... but thats just a reason to get it repainted ;) ---

ah take that right foot of yours and slowly drive to get a boost gauge and install it. then take that same foot and press hard on the pedal on the right. the long skinny one. once you master that. stop the truck in a long parking lot. put it in (N) press the brake as hard as possible while reving it up. Then the pedal should drop a little to the floor. hold it there. then let the rpm go back down. then put it into drive. hold the brakes still and press the gas, boost up and let go at 10pounds to start. hold on for your first boost launch. yes this will be fun but you got to keep yourself in check not to do it to much. give the tranny time to cool down. you dont want to cook your tranny. now stop feeling bad and go have fun till you break it and fix it to start all over.

My Sy and Ty are both in the 50-60k mile range and I love to race them. That’s what they were built for. I don’t really consider it abuse because the way they are taken care of. I try to keep them running 100%, keep all the fluids changed regularly and tune them up waaay more often than I probably really need to. I would feel guiltier if I drove them in poor conditions everyday or didn’t keep them maintained or just let them sit and rot (although Ive been known for letting tires dry-rot from a lack of driving). Like mpettograsso said..."let it rip man..........if it breaks, just fix it"! :tup:

I bought my sy at 22k and now it has 30k... so in 4 years, 8k miles. Not bad but not a garage queen either, As long as you take care of it, do the maintenance and don't let it become a piece of sh!!t, then you are good to go.

these trucks tend to have more problems after sitting for extended amounts of time... so I say drive that bitch

You hit the nail on the head. My truck was great its first 7 years ... then sat 7 years. I have put 5k on it in the last 2 1/2 years ... and am starting to have problems (suspension or drivetrain though, not engine) hahaha. I still drive it though ... I need to get it "back in shape" ---

Yes! Quite well, Thank You! :p

It did take years to work out all the bugs and screw-ups from the former owner but it runs like new now. :lol:

my Ty has 38,000 miles right now, im out in chicago so I try to drive it in good weather and not beat it up...sometimes... if I were you, I would drive it hard so if it does break, you can upgrade some parts without feeling bad. I think its win-win.
