....after owning my Ty for a year and half, building the engine, putting it in, trying to work through all the issues.....I finally got to drive it Saturday night. Too bad I had to take it all the way to Tuscaloosa to do it, but its with someone who can get it where it needs to be. When we first took it off the trailer it was running really rough, we had to keep the map sensor vacuum line unplugged so it would idle. The first ride was really bad, it didn't want to build rpm without sputtering horribly. We came back and started looking at all the vacuum lines. Just as I suspected, I had it all jacked up. So we started removing and plugging lines to get down to the bare esentials. The next ride was better but it would still sputter whenever the turbo started to spool. Then we swapped the chip with a stock chip and that seemed to do alot of good, but still would not boost. After scratching our heads, we decided to start with the basics...timing. Put a light on it and yep, it was way off. With timing set almost perfectly, we took off again....WOW. That really made it come to life. We got it to boost to about 10 lbs, and seemed, to me, to be pulling pretty good. So we swapped the chips back and took it for one last ride. Boosted to 13 lbs, and pulled really hard...to me. What a huge difference in a short amount of time. It still has a long way to go, Mototard said it was pulling about 75% of what his stock Sy would run. To me it felt pretty damn quick, the same if not quicker than my 95 LT-1 Vette I used to have.
It was really hard to leave Sunday morning without it. But the whole reason for taking it was so that its with someone who has the experience and knowledge to get it where it should be. I can't wait to get this thing back!!!
