fog lamps no power?

well ive been searching on the forum and haven't gotten anywere in terms of troubleshooting my issue im a little confused as I read some help dave P gave a member on here with his fog lamp issue.

Heres what I have no power at the plug that goes down to the fog lamps by the bumper, I don't here a Relay clicking on bottom of dash near fuse box when I turn switch on and off, I have interior dome lamp but no Horn... Also the light on the fog lamp switch turns on when switched to on position but nothing happens down at the lamps. I installed 2 new fog lamps so I am ruling out the lamps for sure.

Any help would be great I know they don't help worth a crap in real time I just want to have them working since they are still on the truck and I don't plan on deleting them.

Does anyone know where else I should start to troubleshoot this problem? do the fog lamps power on with the key in off position of does the key need to be in on position in order for them to work?

I had same issue but no dome light. Check horn fuse. If that's good (and it should be if you've got a working dome light) then it's either the relay or wireing.
I believe there all on the same circuit.
Fogs should work with key off lights on. Also dose your radio work?

I had that problem,traced it down to the fuse panel,there's a hot wire that feeds 2 or 3 wires,cant remember how many,that are supposed to have constant power, one of those wires feeds power to the relay from there,I wound up having to install an aux.mini fuse block,then connected the wire from the old panel to that. Hope that helps.:tup:

does the fog swich illuminate when you turn it on? if that switch does not come on, power is not getting to switch (fuse or whatever). but since you have dome, then it prob illuminates, the switch. so power to relay is good. if you hear them click, then the coil of relay is good, but the contacts could be blown.

to verify its the fogs relays you hear, turn lights on high beams, key ign on but not run. flick back and forth between high and low. the fog relay should cycle with highbeams. (fog off when highbeam on). This obviously wont work if you have HIDs that use a plunger to pull between high/low becuase that is all you will hear.

Here are some instructions from DaveP.
"If the indicator in the switch is coming on,
there should be power at the fog lights. The wire to the lights and the indicator is
common AFTER the relay. There is a 2-pin connector over the brake booster.
One pur/wht 12ga, and one lt grn wire. Be sure that connector is connected.
Otherwise its wiring, connectors at the lights, or fog harness ground wire at the
LF headlight.

fyi, mine turned out to be brittle wire inside fog, the hot had cracked the insulation, and the wires was direct shorting , or grounding on the metal case.
