okay so after some idiots broke into my truck and stole my radio, my fog lights dont work.
the bulbs get no juice. the small light on fog switch does not light.
is there wiring for fog lights behind radio?
what type of switch is this?
is there a relay somewhere?
all the fuses are good
chad

HORN/DM 20 amp fuse was blown, note: the ceiling dome light will also not work if this fuse is blown
thanks wantingsy

Re: fog light system wiring

the foglamps are connected to the parking lamps, which are connected to the illumination circuit on the radio..could possibly have been a short..I do not believe there is a relay.. are all your other lights still good? The wiring for the lamps runs down behind the cluster and then to the fuse block and to the through wall harness by the p-brake pedal... I just moved my switches all around so I know these things

it's a standard rocker switch, carries both positive and ground. has a fifth wire for the lamp ground on the switch

You can always run a wire on each side from the positive of the parking lights to the positive of the fog lights. When you turn on your parking lights, that will also turn on your fog lights. No relays required.

There actually is a relay. I have an entire fog light harness, and it has its own standalone relay between the switch and the lights. I don't have a chassis electrical diagram to help trace it, sorry......

Re: fog light system wiring

I also am wondering this because one of my foglights went out and I went to change the bulb and it was hard coming out so I pulled on it and it seems like I pulled it from the white wire which it was sodered to. Now both the foglights don't work, the light on the foglight switch doesn't light up and my interior dome light doesn't come on. I think I blew a fuse. Need to check it out. How does that white wire work? Is it sodered to both pins on the halogen bulb?

Re: fog light system wiring

Let me check and see what I have this weekend if I remember. The setup I have is off a 1994 Bravada, but cannot believe that it would be any different. From what I remember, my setup is uncut and complete to the switch, but the switch is messed up and is constantly on. I have a Haynes or Chilton manual at home for S-series, and it has all kinds of diagrams in it; I'll see if I can remember to check into it and see where you might be screwed up.

unless I'm mistaken the bulb ought to come with a new white lead ... it's only on one side, white supplies the power

Re: fog light system wiring

I'll have to check that out. I bought one that looked similar at ace and it didn't come with the white lead. I'll stop by like kragens or napa today and see if they have the exact bulb. Does anyone know the watts for it? I think it's a 50W :dunno:

Re: fog light system wiring

Just got back from napa and picked up the bulb/white wire assembly. You were right jjorgensen they do come together. Now I have to put it in, change a fuse, and buy one new fog light lense  Lol...word of advice....don't overtighten the screws holding the lense in!

I don't have to worry about the white wire or the screws

LOL. I'm not sure yet. I'm going to change the bulb and the fuse tomorrow. The dome light and the lights in my visors won't come on. I'll find out which fuse tomorrow.

Re: fog light system wiring

Alright, changed the drivers side fog light bulb today and then changed the fuse that blew when I yanked out the old halogen bulb because I didn't know it was the whole assembly...lol... The fuse that went out was the one that says horn/dm (20) Everything works great now
