For those of you who never saw a stock plastic skid plate

I had this off while I put on a steering stabilizer. Even has the product of canada decal. Wonder if that gives 10-15 hp?

aw yeh, at least 15hp! especially from one that is in as good a shape as yours. think mine is now worth about 5hp... it's pretty thrashed...dirty...no canada sticker... eh, so maybe 3-4hp at most.

These seemed to be pretty rare. It seem like 9 out of 10 trucks don't have this part....

In all the trcuks I've ever seen. I've only ever seen 1.... and it's not on my 8k mile truck either

I've seen 4 trucks in GA (and tons @ 5 yrs worth of NATS) so far that have the piece in place and intact. I think it really depends on the type of driving done as to whether or not they survive. I prefer not to have it if you work on your truck a lot, as it catches all the bolts, nuts, sockets, etc... that would normally (hopefully) fall to the floor. For those of you who do prefer it, LMC Truck sells it for too much money. FWIW, I think I have a couple lying around here if anybody really needs one.

BTW, there's a reason why your 8k mile truck doesn't have one John...... :wink:

Neither truck I have sitting outside has one on it, but #180 did have one little tab of plastic sticking out from under a bolt in the frame, so I guess it had one at some point

I have two - a cracked plastic one and a sweet Longwith aluminum one. I might even have (part of) a similar one of my S-10.

For those of you who don't know, it's not a skidplate but an air deflector. It's supposed to help control the airflow through/around the engine compartment or something. I haven't done any tests with it on and off to see how it matters, but I'm sure GM spent millions in R&D on it, so it's probably best if you have one.

My 92 Typhoon had one on it. It was really cracked bad, looked like someone had been jacking the car up there and didn't bother to check that their was a plastic plate there. Anyway it hung in there for a while until going down the interstate at about 70 mph when the air caught it and ripped it right off. I didn't even bother to stop, figured it was really junk by now. I stopped at the local GM dealer and this part is discontinued. If anyone out there is really interested in selling one I may be interested.
As a side note, I have been driving mine for a while without it and dont notice any difference. Send me a PM if anyone has one out there. Thanks, Larry.
