Ford fan - installed

Howdy,

I've finished my new electric fan installation approx. two weeks ago. I've already accomplished a little testing in the mean time, too. The fan is for a 95' Ford Taurus 3.8L, I got it brand new for $100. Previously I've used a much smaller fan from a VW, and I had cooling issues, not serious ones, but after a run my temps kept rising, the fan couldn't stop it.

Now with the new fan my temp never goes above 165 , whatever I do, high 80's outside. During cruising it's below 160F. Currently I'm using a manual switch right now and usually I keep it running on high speed all the time. I plan to use like this for a while then I'll see...

I like the install too, it's looking quite OEM, both the lower and upper shrouds are in place.

I've also measured the current requirement of this fan. It draws 37 Amps at startup and 18-20 Amps at full speed. I'm using a 70 Amp relay and a 50 Amp fuse just for security... I've heard some serious numbers posted about these fans, that's why I measured it.

I've made up a new cooling page at tragacs.com as well:

Peace,

Nice... I've been thinking about going this route when the money catches up to me.

What heat exchangers do you have sitting in front of the radiator.

falco, did you ever get the automoeter a/f gauge working under the wideband?

No. To be honest, I've not tried that hard. It's one of my future mini projects. I've plan for a circuit, which should work I was just busy to fix other issues around the truck... I don't want to promise anything, but I'll go for a four weeks holiday, will be at home without the family for two weeks. Lots of spare time ahead... :D

Later,
