I was looking for more info on the Ford Powerstroke intercooler, and ran across several sights, I found one where several GN guys were using it, (lots of install pics,) all comments were positive, with e.t. Gains. hard to belive that thing will fit in the front of a GN,
Also found a Mustang using it, (serious cutting required) good pics of process
now some good news, none of these people reported any overheating, even with this thing in front of the Radiator, the common reasoning was it is so long (30") that the end tanks dont block the radiator from air as most smaller ones will.
here are the spec's I found on two different sights from different sources.
at 351 CFM and 289 degrees the pressure drop is .02 psi (Great)
outlet temp is 92 degrees
heat rejected is 73305 BTU/Hr
calculated heat exchange area is 3,278
these are the specs on the 99-01 Ford Powerstroke intercooler, which seems to have been produced with both metal and plastic end caps the Buick guys have yet to have a problem with either, up to 25 psi.
seeing how you can purchase one of these for around 250.00 I may be going this route, it is also thin enough 2" to put in front of the radiator without a lot of cutting, anyone have any input/ideas on this? it seems almost to good to be true.
